Over the spring break week, we are going to be leading creative workshops to get you inspired over break! The first round of lessons will taught by our resident photographer, Jordan Galiano, by going over the basics of photography! The first day will cover cameras, the features of the cameras, and photo taking techniques. The second day we will take what we learned and go to Long Branch skatepark and use the techniques to take photos at the park and in Long Branch. The final day of the lessons will be covering post production photo editing techniques and finalization of photos. Bring any camera you want to use for hands on use. Bring additional money for lunch on Wednesday for the Long Branch trip. A permission slip is provided and must be completed and filled out to attend the trip to Long Branch. You must be present for all 3 days of the workshop in order to attend.
Our good friend, Ryan Banach, has a friend who owns some land up in New Paltz, New York where they have been building skate ramps with concrete! We are trying to take a day trip up to New Paltz to meet Ryan’s friend and learn the ways of using fill dirt, building molds and templates, and pouring some ‘crete! This trip will be open to those that are eager to learn how to design and build some features out of concrete!
Join us for a free movie screening of the Bones Brigade Movie at the Fabian 8 Movie Theater in Paterson, New Jersey! The Bones Brigade Movie chronicles the careers of the original Bones Brigade crew which included Tony Hawk, Mike McGill, Lance Mountain, Tommy Guerrero, Steve Caballero, and Rodney Mullen. If you were here for the Lords of Dogtown premier, that story and the Bones Brigade’s share a similar tale of mentorship. Come on out at 7:00 pm for a great movie and for some skate history!
Harold Hunter Day is a memorial day skate celebration for a New York City skate legend, Harold Hunter. Solid Foundation is volunteering to help run the event this year and is looking for friends to join us to volunteer!
Starting June 30th until July 10th, an amazing, hard working group of guys from Solid Foundation will be traveling across the country to Hume Lake Christian Camp in the Sequoia National Park for our mission trip! Many of the participants coming on this trip are skateboarders from the Paterson area that have rarely left the tri-state area to help serve those on the opposite end of the country. On this trip, we will connect with campers and staff members, build and repair camp facilities, and rebuild the camp’s skatepark. While we are away on this trip, the skatepark will unfortunately be closed since all members of Solid Foundation will be on the trip. Do not worry, we will be starting skate camp the day we get back! We will see you all soon!
